About

Gathaithi Farmers' Cooperative Society was registered under the Cooperative Society Act of 2000 and was part of the Giant Tetu Coffee Farmers Society. It has one factory, Gathaithi Coffee Factory, with 1,656 active members. Farmers typically have 120 coffee trees or ½ acre of land.

Located in Gaki, Tetu sub-county, Nyeri County, 160 km north of Nairobi, the factory is between Mt. Kenya and the Aberdare ranges. The area features red volcanic soils, 1,100mm annual rainfall, an altitude of 1,720m, and temperatures ranging from 16-26°C; all great characteristics for coffee farming.

Gathaithi FCS was recognized as the Overall Winner by C. Dorman in 2016 and 2017.
